Mary Louise Gomes

A Burial will be held May 18, starting at 11:00 am at Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham, MA.

Mary Louise (Cann) Gomes, 77 , from Halifax, Nova Scotia, and a long time resident of Andover, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2024 in Rhinebeck, NY. Mary Lou was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on September 7, 1946, daughter of the late John and Louise (Veinotte) Cann.

She attended Sacred Heart School and Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Mary Lou spent 50 wonderful years married to Ronald Gomes until his passing in 2018.  Over the years, her many roles included teacher, seamstress, upholsterer, gardener, travel agency manager, onsite event director for an international IT Industry conference company, and, her favorites, mother, wife and grandmother.

Surviving family members include Mary Lou's loving son, Lance Gomes, his wife, Elizabeth and their two children, Alexander and Megan of Haverhill, MA; loving son, Chad Gomes and wife, Alexandra of Port Ewen, NY; brother Phil Cann; sister Shauna Foster; brother Duncan Cann; sister-in-law Virginia Pagliuca; found siblings Karen Moser and Peter Thomson; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
