Mary Lou Van Etten Jones

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Thursday June 8th from 4-7 PM.

The funeral procession will form Friday 9 AM at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM at Immaculate Conception Church in Kingston.

Burial will follow at Blue Mountain Cemetery in Saugerties.

Mary Lou Van Etten Jones, 76, of Saugerties passed away Saturday June 3, 2023 at home. Born April 15, 1947 in Kingston, she is the daughter of the late Thomas and Mildred (Schatzel) Van Etten. A graduate of St. Peter's School in Kingston, and the Kingston High School Class of 1964.  Mary    Lou's health kept her from working, as she had many severe illnesses, several which required major surgery. Including cancer, but still, Mary Lou was a devoted homemaker; she took great pride in keeping an immaculate home. She loved to cook, which she was excellent at. Tend to her plants, feed birds and small wildlife, and of course grooming her beloved shih tzu Cinders.  For twenty-eight years; Mary Lou and her husband Jim were residents of Rockland County, within the towns of West Nyack and Nanuet. They relocated to the Ulster County area in 2003.

Surviving is her husband James "Jim" Jones- they married June 28, 1975, sister-in-law Donna Van Etten, niece and Goddaughter Kate Van Etten, niece Holly Netter, Mary Lou is also survived by many close friends, and her best friend, canine companion Cinders.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers William, Thomas and Joseph Van Etten as well as nephew and Godson Michael Van Etten.
