Family and friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
On Monday, family and friends will be received from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. A funeral procession will form at 10:30 AM and proceed for a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Catherine Laboure Church on Monday at 11:00 AM.
Burial will be held on Tuesday at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
Mert E. Germain
, 91, of Ruby died Friday, March 14, 2025 at Tenbroeck Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born May 16, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois he was the son of the late Fred A. and Dorothy (Madine) Germain.
Mert served in the United States Army. He received his Associates Degree from Purdue University and was employed as a Staff Engineer at IBM in Kingston for thirty-four years. A member of the Ruby Fire Department where he previously served as President, Vice President and Secretary. A member of the Men's Club at Saint Catherine Laboure Church, Red Hook Golf Club, Rip Van Winkle Country Club, Tuesday Morning Bowling at Hoe Bowl. Mert also enjoyed driving and traveling.
Mert is survived by his daughter Mary Garraty and her husband Bill, his sons Michael Germain and his wife Kathy and Brian Germain. Siblings Dorothy Jean Palmer, Sandra Lloyd and Sheri Germain Stambaugh. Grandchildren; Emily Germain (Jesse Colon), Benjamin Germain and his wife Amber, Katie Garraty-Valley and her husband Joseph Valley and William Garraty III, and his wife Lydia. Great Grandchildren; Charlotte Colon, William Garraty IV and Walter Garraty. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Mert's dear friend, Marie Van de Bogart, also survives.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife Lise M. (Thisdele) Germain, siblings; Fred Germain, Raymond Germain, Rosemary Flora, Ronnie Germain and Hoyt Germain.
The family would like to thank the staff at Tenbroeck Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their wonderful care and attention to Mert.
