Minerva "Minnie" Homan, 91, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, on October 29, 2025, in Poughkeepsie, New York. Born on May 5, 1934, in Manhattan, she lived a long and beautiful life centered on love, laughter, and family.

Minnie's determination shone early—she graduated a year ahead of her class from Washington Irving High School in New York City. Her career began in several secretarial roles at notable companies, including EF Drew Co., RJ Reynolds, and even the television show Man Against Crime, where she had the memorable experience of meeting actor Ralph Bellamy—a story she loved to retell.

When it came time to find a life partner, Minnie often recalled her mother's advice: to look for someone who was hardworking and responsible. When she met her future husband, Clifford Homan, she admired his intelligence, drive, and work ethic. They married on October 16, 1954 at St. Vincent De Paul's Church in NYC. They left Manhattan, and settled in Kingston when Clifford accepted a position at IBM. Together, they raised four children, and Minnie always said that becoming a mother was the best and most important job she ever had.

Minnie is lovingly remembered by her daughters Leslie Schiappa (Dean), Karen Homan, Kim Homan-Wilson, and Kristine Conte (Brian); her grandchildren Erika Warwick (Josh), Whitney Johnson (Jerren), Sophia Conte, and Dylan Conte; her great-granddaughter Everly Warwick; her sister-in-law Barbara Pineda; several nieces and nephews; and her two furbabies, Bruno and Bailey.

Spending time with family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every shared moment. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Clifford Homan; her parents, Carmen Maxamina Pineda and Ernesto Pineda; and her brother, Albert Pineda and two furbabies Major and Zoey.

Minnie led a full and vibrant life. She enjoyed bowling in several leagues, knitting cozy creations for loved ones, swimming in the summer, camping with her family, and traveling whenever she could. She took great joy in shopping trips—often lasting for hours—at many of the local department stores, including Caldors, Woolworths, K-Mart, Montgomery Wards, Hess's, Big Scots, and Ben Franklin. Later, even when her knees began to give her trouble, she still loved a good long trip to Kohl's. She also enjoyed talking politics and catching up with friends about the latest news.

Faith was a guiding part of Minnie's life. She was a parishioner at different times at St. Catherine Labouré Parish and St. Colman's Church. When she couldn't get to church, she always made sure to watch Mass on TV. A highlight Minnie and Clifford were proud of was being among the first homeowners in the Whittier neighborhood, with their daughter Leslie being the first child born in the new community. Their home, where they have lived for 68 years, has always been a gathering place where memories and laughter flowed freely.

Her kindness and love extended far beyond her immediate family, touching countless relatives and friends, including the Berinatos, Whites, Strombecks, Contes, Ptolskys, Leklis, Lynchs, Bottieris, Pinedas, Rubys, Krystels, Kempingers, Meyers, Kraemers, Tates, Schaffers, Marquardts, Homans, Hartrampfs, Hinnershitzs, Mullens, Weiss, Metropoulas, and Crowleys. May Minerva "Minnie" Homan's memory bring peace and comfort to all who loved her. Fittingly, with her wake falling on Election Day, she would have liked to remind everyone to get out and vote—and to remember to call their mother.
