Neil E. Rausch, 73 , of Lake Katrine died Saturday December 27, 2025, at Hudson Valley Hospice House surrounded by his family. He was born in Kingston on December 18, 1952, a son of the late Ervan and Doris (Edenholm) Rausch.
Neil graduated from Kingston High School in 1971. Shortly after graduating, he was selected in the last draft of the Vietnam War. Although he never saw combat, he served two years in the U.S. Army. After his military service, Neil began working in construction and eventually co-founded Roeber and Rausch Custom Builders with his partner.
One of Neil's favorite hobbies was fishing. He enjoyed spending time on his small fishing boat and loved it when his daughters joined him. He also had a passion for riding his Harley-Davidson, vacationing on the beach with his family, getting together with his childhood friends to play cards, and watching his favorite football team, the New York Giants. One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his granddaughter, Lainey, who brightened his days even in his hardest times.
Neil is survived by his wife Mary (Clausi) Rausch, two daughters Lauren (Rausch) Royster and her husband Sean, Nicole Rausch (Shamus Waldron), a granddaughter, Lainey Royster, and brother David Rausch. He is also survived by several brother–in-laws, sister-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Richard Rausch, as well as his in-laws Patrick and Eva Clausi and sister-in-law Betty Clausi.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Neil Rausch can be made to the American Cancer Society or to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital.
