Patricia (Ann) Murphy Netter, 88, of Woodstock passed away Thursday January 25, 2024, at home. Born September 21, 1935, in Jersey City, she is the daughter of the late James Joseph and Ruth Catherine (Dwyer) Murphy and the eldest of their ten children.
A graduate of the Benedictine School of Nursing in Kingston, NY; Pat also attended Seton Hall University. She worked as a registered nurse for many years at Benedictine Hospital and Glens Falls Hospital. Pat was an active member at St. John's Catholic Church in West Hurley where she was quick to volunteer her time to any need. Her deep faith sustained her throughout her life and comforted her as the Lord welcomed her home.
Pat was a lifelong learner who enjoyed and excelled at many hobbies including sewing, knitting, tole painting and quilting. She enjoyed daily walks with her dog and greeting her neighbors. Her greatest joy by far was entertaining family and friends with her home cooked meals. She was blessed to have enjoyed watching all thirteen of her grandchildren grow up.
Surviving is her husband of sixty-four years, John Netter, Sr., and their children John Netter, Jr., and his wife Holly of Port Ewen, Peter Netter and his wife Ann of Fayetteville, Louise Therrien and her husband Roger of Boxford, Massachusetts, Patricia Gavis of Kingston, and Maureen Pesano and her husband Geoffrey of Marlboro. Grandchildren Caitlin Dowling, Meghan, Ryan and Kelli Therrien, Andrew and Daniel Netter, Thomas, Olivia and James Netter, Meghan and Grace Gavis, Sophie and Mark Pesano. Great grandchildren Grace and Reed Dowling, Silas and Lane Therrien. Siblings Marie Snyder, Bernadette Servis, and William Murphy as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her siblings James Murphy, Robert Murphy, Kathleen Groves, Joan Farrell, Margaret Dinsmore and Timothy Murphy.
We would like to thank Hudson Valley Hospice and her caregiver Sylvia for their compassion and exceptional care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hudson Valley Hospice or SPCA of Ulster County.
