Robert Alfred Hammerle, 60 , of Ulster Park, New York, passed peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on December 17th, 1965 in Bronx, New York, Rob lived a life marked by strength, kindness and deep devotion to those he loved. Rob loved all with the entirety of his heart. Rob worked as a mechanic for more than forty years, carrying himself with both humility and pride in every job he took on. He was known for his strong work ethic, honest craftsmanship, and quiet dedication to helping others. In 2000, he fulfilled a longtime dream by opening A & H Automotive, where he continued to serve his community with skill, integrity, and heart. When away from the shop, Rob found some of his greatest happiness in life's simple pleasures. He loved spending sunny days on the tractor or out on the boat, and he always enjoyed a little friendly competition when playing cards with family. When summer gave him a chance to step away from the shop, he especially looked forward to vacations at the beach, where he could relax and enjoy time with those he loved most. He was a man whose presence brought comfort, laughter, and steadiness to his family and friends. Through every stage of life, he was known for his resilience, his caring heart, and the love he shared so freely with the people around him.
Above all, Robert cherished his family. He found great meaning in the time he spent with those closest to him, and his love for them remained constant throughout his life. Even during his illness, he faced each day with courage and grace, drawing strength from the love and support that surrounded him. Robert was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Dorothy Hammerle. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Lyn Hammerle, his sister Christina Crane and her husband Mike Crane, as well as his children Robert Hammerle, Alexis Hammerle and her husband Carlos Santiago, and Madison Hammerle. He also leaves behind many extended family members, dear friends, and loved ones who will miss him deeply and remember him always.
Rob's memory will live on within his family's hearts, remembering him for the strength, courage, and love he led each day with.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Robert's memory.
