On Saturday, July 27, 2024, at a 1pm graveside Memorial Service, Robert will be buried in the
Hurley Cemetery, next to his wife Hannelore. A private gathering to follow for the family & a few close friends.
Robert (Bob) Schneller, beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, and son, died Friday, June 28, 2024 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. He was born in Passaic, NJ on Oct 4,1928 to Karl and Johanna Schneller. The last surviving one of six siblings, he grew up in Pine Bush, NY and lived most of his life in Ulster County. He married Hannelore Hahn in 1950, who predeceased him in 2019. Bob is survived by his five children: Barbara Johnston ( Frank d. 2015), Rick Schneller (Colleen) Suzanne Welles (Skip), Tom Schneller (Trish), Michael Schneller (Lisa), 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Bob established Schneller's Meats in 1956 in Kingston, NY where it thrived for over forty years. In his retirement, Bob operated a small but successful cheese business. During the late 1960's he was the Town Supervisor of Hurley, NY. Bob was the announcer & produced Schneller's German American Hour on WGHQ Radio. He was a dedicated supporter of the Hudson Valley Philharmonic and Woodstock's Turneau Opera. He also was an honorary member of the Kingston Mannerchor. Bob appreciated good food, good drink, and good conversation. He traveled to Europe, England, Jamaica, Cuba, and all over the US and Canada. Bob was an avid skier, exuberant golfer, passionate GIANTS fan, surf-fisherman, opera lover, lifelong voracious reader, with a larger-than-life personality. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
