Rose Ada Kelsch

Family and friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 PM at Saint Joseph's Church.

Burial will follow in Hurley Cemetery.

Rose Ada Kelsch passed away peacefully at Vassar Brothers Hospital at the age of 77 after a brief illness on Friday, January 12, 2024. Rose was born on February 16th, 1947 in Kingston, NY the daughter of the late Elsie and Henry F.  Kelsch.

She grew up on West Pierpont Street in Kingston, New York and was a 1965 graduate of Kingston High School.

As a young adult, Rose began working and retired after a 47-year career in the food service industry with Grand Union/Hannaford where she made many life-long friends. In her downtime, she loved to crochet, draw, paint, needlepoint, play card games, bingo, and laughter, lots of laughter.  Rose was a joyful, friendly, crafty, and outgoing person who truly enjoyed life on her terms.

Before and after retirement,  Rose traveled extensively throughout Europe with Ireland as her favorite. This transformed how she lived her life. While Rose was of German descent she embraced the Irish spirit so much so, that it was a complete surprise when her young nieces and nephews learned that she was not truly Irish! When you visited Rose's home, you'd find Irish memorabilia and decorations scattered about with music by Andy Cooney playing in the background as a reminder of her Irish passion.

Her love for travel took her coast to coast in the United States where she visited or vacationed with family and friends experiencing all that life had to offer.  From California's redwood forest to the sandy beaches of Hawaii, Florida and Cape May, New Jersey, she embraced it all with the joyous enthusiasm that emanated from Rose's personality. She recorded her travel and life events through photography and kept an extensive collection of photo albums as her legacy. Every aspect of her experiences became a treasured keepsake as a reminder that life truly is a journey.

Rose was a lovable sister, aunt and friend who always had a smile on her face. She brought joy and laughter to many just by her presence. If Rose had one wish, it would be to keep prayer, service and humor in our lives. Let her wish be our inspiration here on earth. And for those who may occasionally think of her, do a little Irish jig in her honor.

Rose is survived by her sister, Mary Post,  brother-in-law Anthony Zangara, and many nieces and nephews who were part of her life.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Carol Fastenau, Joan Zangara, and brother-in-laws Vincent Post and Bill Fastenau.
