Rosemary Esposito of Highland, New York passed away on October 8, 2026 surrounded by family after a brief bout of pneumonia at Benedictine Hospital. She was 94.

Rosemary was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 27, 1932 to Dominick and Calogera (Noto) Stango. She was predeceased by her parents, 3 brothers, her husband, and her son Fred (wife Carol).

In June, 1951, Rosemary married the love of her life, Fred, and was happily married for 39 years until his untimely death in 1990. She relentlessly forged forth in her new role as a widow. Although having been a homemaker, she decided to go into retail sales at Caldor, a position she truly loved.

Rosemary is survived by her daughter Denise (Ron) Van Aken, son Steven Paul (Joyce) Esposito, and her late son's wife Carol. She was blessed with 4 grandchildren, Aubrey (Hans Eigo), Christopher (Jill) Van Aken, Steven Esposito, and Fred (Elizabeth) Esposito. God truly blessed Rosemary even more with 4 great-granddaughters-Mikaila and Helena Eigo and Adeline and Charlotte (twins!) Van Aken.

Rosemary enjoyed all things-baking, gardening, crafting, and cooking for her family. Holidays were an extremely big deal as evidenced by the strict instructions left for the family to follow now that she has passed. She was fiercely independent and lived alone to the end.

While we would have rather had her remain here with us, we must attempt to take joy and comfort in the knowledge that after almost 36 years without her husband and 23 years without her son, they will all be together finally. We will miss her terribly but will hold fast to the wonderful memories that we have all made with her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to Hudson Valley Hospice. Many thanks to the staff on 5 SMC for their compassion to our mother during her illness.
