Sally P. Buboltz

A memorial service in Sally's honor will be held on a future date in Deposit, NY.

Sally Patricia Conklin Buboltz died quietly on Sunday, October 29, 2023 in Kingston, NY after a long, brave battle. She was 77 years old.

Sally is survived by several loving family members: her husband of 54 years, Raymond John Buboltz of Kingston, NY; daughter Melissa Patricia Smith (Christopher) of Chalfont, PA; daughter Rebecca Marie Buboltz of Ulster Park, NY; grandchildren Noah Michael Terry of Kingston, NY, Joshua Raymond Buboltz of Ulster Park, NY, Gavin William Christopher Smith of Chalfont, PA, and Finn Andrew Conklin Smith of Chalfont, PA; brothers Alan Conklin (Sharon) of Syracuse, NY and Steven Conklin of Deposit, NY; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. Several loving neighbors and friends survive Sally as well, including her best friend Suzanne Shull (Robert) of Saugerties, NY.

Sally is preceded in death by several beloved family members: her mother Patricia Lipp Conklin, father Lee Wendell Conklin, sister Marian Elizabeth Conklin, niece Shelly Marie Conklin, mother-in-law Rita Herrick Buboltz, father-in-law Leo Francis Buboltz, brother-in-law Leo Buboltz, brother-in-law Joseph Buboltz, and several other relatives and friends.

Sally was born on May 13, 1946 in Deposit, NY. She enjoyed a wonderful childhood on their small family dairy farm in Stilesville, NY where she nurtured every barn cat, raised her horses, and served as her dad's little "shadow" on the farm. Sally graduated from Deposit Central in 1964 and attended State University of New York at Geneseo and Ulster County Community College. Sally and Ray married on April 12, 1969 in Kingston, NY and subsequently raised their two daughters in Ulster Park, NY.

Sally's focus on caring for others was a theme in her life. From various jobs working with children and serving others to her many roles as a wife and mom, Sally brought humor, wit, tenacity, loyalty, and compassion to everything she did. Whether she was organizing the school bake sale, coaching girls' Little League, attending chorus concerts, or making her famous potato salad and peanut brittle to share with friends and family, Sally took care of people. She volunteered for 9 years on the Kingston City School Board as a member and finally as president. Her passion was advocacy for special education students and their families, inspired in part by her sister Marian, and she worked tirelessly in support of public education. She also never met a book she didn't like, and her love of reading instilled that same joy in her daughters. She was an avid antique enthusiast and enjoyed family genealogy research with her mom.

Sally spent her life taking care of her husband, her children, any friend in need, and every family member who aged, became ill, or needed help. Her famous infectious laugh provided others with comfort and joy. Sally never stopped dreaming of her time on the farm and found great solace there and in her little hometown.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
