Sara Fraad Henderson

Sara Fraad Henderson, 85, of Hurley passed away peacefully at home on Saturday June 20, 2026. Born in Brooklyn, NY on December 11, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Daniel, Jr. and Rita (Rich) Fraad.

Sara was an international banker, working for several leading financial institutions throughout her successful career. Between her work and passions, Sara traveled the world and lived in Asia for over 20 years. After the 2004 Indonesian Tsunami, she led the rebuilding of a village in Banda Aceh.

Sara spent much of her life advocating for civil rights, most recently as one of the founding members of the Ulster County Immigrant Defense Network.

She rescued many animals and particularly loved dogs. She was also an avid reader

Most of all, Sara loved her family. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Sara is survived by her children: Dan Henderson, Brooke Henderson, Becky Hjerpe and her husband Mark, and J.B. Henderson and his wife Celia, her grandchildren: Chelsea Hendriecks and her wife Erica, Jane Henderson and her fiancé Annalise, Magdalena Fraad, Caleb Henderson and his fiancé Braedon, Ori Edgar, James Hjerpe, Jack Hjerpe, Eli Hjerpe, Camille Henderson, and Angus Henderson, and her great-grandchildren: Monroe and Maevan. Her sister, Martha Haffey, as well as nephews and grand nieces and nephews also survive.
