Friends and family will be received at New Progressive Baptist Church Thursday March 30th from 10 AM until 12 noon.
A Home Going Celebration will take place at 12 noon.
Shakima Ashley Williamson was born on 2/14/1991 in the Bronx, N.Y to Charnell Williamson and Ben Nicholson.
Shakima was raised in the Bronx, N.Y where she attended elementary school until the age of 12. Shakima and her family relocated to Kingston NY when Shakima was 13 yrs old. Shakima went on to attend Bailey Jr. High School. She then went on to graduate from Schenectady High School.
Shakima had a vivacious spirit and enjoyed the arts. As a child and throughout her young adulthood, Shakima indulged in performing arts. She was a talented dancer, and singer. It was her enthusiasm for dance that led her to became a member of "Energy" dance group where she participated in dance performances at local community events. Shakima enjoyed doing hair and would often braid her sister's and friends hair. Shakima was one of the funniest people you'd ever come across she used her humor to connect with others and her laugh was contagious.
Shakima aspired to be a lawyer she would go on to attend Schenectady Community College where she majored in Paralegal studies. Shakima also explored other career options and would ultimately become a Certified Nurses Aide. Shakima worked various jobs as a CNA in the Schenectady and Kingston areas.
In 2012 Shakima would give birth to a son, Damian Amel Rucker whom she loved dearly. Shakima was an intelligent, reflective young woman who knew that she had challenges and in as much, ensured that her child was safe in the care of his father Edward Rucker and his paternal grandmother Winette M. Cooper.
Shakima departed this earth on March 16, 2023 she was predeceased in death by her grandmother Vivienne Martinez and grandfather Donald Gibson.
Shakima leaves behind to celebrate her life, her mother Charnell Williamson , her step-parent Kathy Reed of her father Ben Nicholson, her son Damien Amel Rucker, her twin sisters Natasha and Nataya Williamson and her brother Raymond Williamson, seven half sisters and three half brothers, Linda Williamson-Kersey, Patricia Gibson, Brenda Carter, Tyisha Martinez, Samantha Foster, Brandice Foster, and her uncles Kelvin Gibson, Daryl Gibson, Donald Gibson Jr., DuWaun Gibson, Sam Nicholson and Terrell Foster and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Shakima's memory will remain in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved her. She will be missed and loved forever.
