Sofia Reuner

Sofia Reuner, 105, of Kingston passed away Tuesday July 4, 2023 at Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born August 4, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Sophie (Offermann) Palkowics.

Sofia was a lifelong resident of Kingston and graduate of Kingston High School. She and her husband Herb owned and operated Reuner Monuments for over 50 years.

Sofia shared her love of the theater, fine arts, and reading with numerous endowments at SUNY Ulster including student scholarships in the performing and fine arts and the Herbert H. & Sofia P. Reuner Library Writers Series; which brings renowned writers to campus every fall.

Her contributions extended into the community with funding for the Reuner Cancer Support House.

Sofia's long life can be attributed to her sense of humor, her smile and her love of all things chocolate.

Sofia was predeceased by her husband Herbert H. Reuner and her son Christopher Reuner.
