Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday April 10th from 3-5 PM.

A memorial service will be held at 5 PM.

Stacy Schoonmaker, 63 , of Hurley passed away peacefully Wednesday April 1, 2026 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 7, 1963 in Kingston, daughter of the late John E. Melville, Sr. and Grace M. (Taylor) Melville.

A graduate of the Kingston High School Class of 1981 then she attained her Associates Degree in Business Administration from Ulster County Community College. She continued her studies at Mount Saint Mary College, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Science and Business Administration. Stacy worked for over thirty years as the manager of human resources for Charles River Laboratories in Stone Ridge. She was also was employed as a customer service representative for Optum Health in Lake Katrine for five years.

Stacy lived her life the way she wanted. To her family she was strong, loving, and full of life. To her friends, she was a confidant and a source of endless encouragement and love. Her warmth, and zest for life touched everyone who knew her.

Surviving is her daughter Mackenzie Gaffken and her husband William, step sons Brandon Schoonmaker (Megan, Harleigh, Schuyler), Logan Schoonmaker, her brother John E. Melville, Jr. and his companion Tammy, her life partner Guy Stauble, nephew John E. Melville, III and his wife Rachel, niece Lauren White and her husband Tyler. She is also survived by her beloved companions (her cat and dog)  Cynder and Erika who she loved dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Kenneth C. Schoonmaker.
