A celebration of life will be held in September.
STANLEY JOHN ZABORSKI of New Salem Road, Eddyville, NY, died peacefully at home on Saturday, August 3, 2024. His wife, Sandy, was at his side. Born January 31, 1947 in Long Island City, Stan was the son of the late Stanley (the original junk man) and Helen (Tarnowski) Zaborski.
After graduating from Kingston High School, Stanley enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. He was a lighthouse keeper and was involved in many search and rescue missions. He loved his years in the Coast Guard. However, his greatest calling was that of a junk man. Stanley owned Zaborski Emporium with his son, Steven. The Emporium was a dream he nurtured from his teen years. He loved buying and selling all sorts of treasures and knew where almost everything was in the Emporium. However, Stan's greatest pleasure was chatting with his customers. He always had a story to tell and a willing ear for anyone who wanted to talk. Stan was extremely proud of how Steven expanded the Emporium.
Surviving are his wife, Sandy Balla; his son, Steven Zaborski; grandsons, Devlin and Kevin Zaborski; and his sister-in-law, Karen Zaborski. He was predeceased by his son Devlin Zaborski and brothers Gregory and Gary Zaborski.
Any gifts in Stanley's remembrance may be made to Town of Esopus Volunteer Ambulance Squad, PO Box 910, Port Ewen, NY 12487 or St. Remy Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 124, Ulster Park, NY 12487.
