Friends will be received a the funeral home on Tuesday July 28th from 4-6 PM. A memorial service will take place at 6 PM.

Stephen A. Benson, 72, of Hurley died peacefully Tuesday July 21, 2026 at home. He was born October 16, 1953 in Kingston, a son of the late Theodore and Elizabeth (May) Benson.

Steve worked for the Town of Ulster Highway Department for over thirty five years, beginning in 1972 and retiring in 2010 as a heavy equipment operator. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, especially in North Lake. He also enjoyed yard saleing and had a love of animals, especially his dogs. In past years, you could find Steve tending to any of the many chickens, pheasants, turkeys, or goats he found great pleasure in raising.

He is survived by his wife Jeannie Benson, two children Shane Benson and his wife Staci, and Jesse Benson, two grandchildren Evan and Ella Benson. His siblings Ted Benson and his wife Jeanne, Bonnie Palatini, Betsy Soltys and her husband Charlie and Nancy Holsten. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers may be made in the form of contributions to Hudson Valley Hospice.
