Stephen C. Exstrand, 69,
of Sawkill has gone to be with the Lord on Tuesday November 7, 2023 at Westchester County Medical Center. Born October 25, 1954 in Kingston he was the son of the late Carl and Violet (Mayone) Exstrand.
Stephen was a full time employee at Ametek, former Rotron, for 47 years. He was certified in all areas going above and beyond what was required at the business. He was a Jack of all trades and Master of all, famous for tie wrapping both at work and at home.
Stephen was a lifetime resident of the area. He was a graduate of Kingston High School 1974. He married his high school sweetheart, Janis in August 1979. They had two children, Jared and Jessica who he loved very much. He was a fan of wrestling and karaoke with his children but only at home. He was a thrill seeker for amusement park rides, especially roller coasters.
Stephen enjoyed watching classic shows and sharing time with his grandchildren. His eyes lit up whenever he spoke of them and saw pictures of Eleanor, who lives in New Mexico. He was planning on visiting New Mexico and going to Disney with everyone, but God had other plans.
Stephen enjoyed the wildlife that romped through his yard. He fed the birds at work, a tradition his co- workers now carry on.
Stephen was a very private person, some will say he was reserved, but when he let you in, it felt special. He truly had a big heart.
To Dr. T, and the nurses and doctors at Westchester Medical Center, THANK YOU. Thank you for caring for my husband, our father, our grampy and friend. Your care and compassion is outstanding.
We will always love and miss him. He is not lost to us - he is at home with Jesus and has started his new journey in life.
Stephen is survived by his wife of forty-four years Janis (DeWitt) Exstrand, his children Jared Exstrand (Ashli Marentes-Gorecki) and Jessica Rhea (Vincent Reggero), grandchildren; Davin Rhea, Sophia Rhea and Eleanor Exstrand. Siblings; Norma McGuire her husband Pat, Denise Exstrand and her husband Charles Atkins, John Exstrand and his wife Sandy and Cindi Todd and her husband Donald, sisters in law Karen Schaefer (Robert Sekel) and Lisa Leary and her husband Clifton, many nieces and nephews also survive.
