In Loving Memory of Tami N. Herendeen-Rice
June 29, 1959 – October 19, 2025
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Tami N. Herendeen-Rice, a beautiful soul whose love, strength, and grace touched every life around her. Tami, 66, was born on June 29, 1959, at Flower Fifth Avenue Hospital in Manhattan, New York, and was a longtime resident of Kingston, New York. She passed on October 19, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She fought with remarkable strength and determination for more time with her family, who were her greatest joy and purpose.
Tami was more than a loving, daughter, mami, sister, abuela, and companion—she was truly an angel on earth. Her warmth, kindness, and selflessness radiated through every act of love, every smile, and every word she shared. She had a heart that gave endlessly and a spirit that lifted everyone she met.
A woman of many talents and accomplishments, Tami earned her bachelor's degree from Marist College. She proudly served as two-time President of the Kingston Rotary Club and was honored as Rotarian of the Year for 2014–2015. Throughout her career, she worked in real estate, at UCAT, and with Woodstock Percussion, and she was also a trusted Notary. No matter the role, Tami approached every endeavor with dedication, compassion, and integrity.
Tami is survived by her loving mother, Noemi Carrera Herendeen; her devoted companion of 17 years, Ben Sharon; her beloved children: her son, W. Daniel Torres and his partner Shannon Doyle, and their children Eva and Aviana Torres, and Madison Kahn; as well as her daughter Elena M. Torres Russell and her husband Robert Torres Russell, and their daughters Mia and Leyla Logan, Nadia and Catalina Torres Russell, Tahtiyana and Maliyah Russell. She is also survived by her brother Jaime Herendeen and his wife, and their two daughters; brother Thomas G. Herendeen III, his wife and children; and her sister Sandra Adams and her children.
Tami was the light of her family, and everything she did was for them. She lived each day with boundless love and faith, always putting others above herself. Her love for her mother and children was endless—a love that continues to live on in their hearts.
Her family and friends will forever remember her for her unwavering generosity, her radiant smile, and her famous words that said it all:
"I love you more."
Her love will continue to guide us, always.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity in her memory.
