Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday, September 24th, from 2-5 PM.
A funeral procession will form on Monday, 10 AM, at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM at St. Joseph's Church in Kingston.
Burial will follow in the Hurley Cemetery.
Teresa M. Decker, 93, a longtime resident of Mountain View Avenue in Hurley died Monday, September 18, 2023 at the The Pines at Catskill Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born October 22, 1929 in Tannersville, she is the daughter of the late Thomas and Marie (McHugh) O'Brien.
Teresa was a graduate of the Benedictine School of Nursing in 1950, and she worked as a nurse in the operating room at Benedictine Hospital before raising her family. Affectionately remembered in Hurley as "mom" or "Mrs. Decker" to many, she took great pride in raising and caring for her family and the many neighborhood children she took under her wings.
Surviving are her children John J. Decker, III and his wife Lori of Hurley, Rosemary Buchalski and her husband Perry of Lake Katrine, Maureen Garro of Whitesboro, Paul Decker of Hamptonville, North Carolina, Teresa Grubiak and her husband Robert of Trevor, Wisconsin, Vincent Decker of Hurley, and Joseph Decker and his wife Jessica of Hurley. Grandchildren George Hill, Robert Grubiak Jr., Kelly and Patrick Buchalski, Lucia Garro, Megan, Thomas, Sean, and Travis Decker, great-grandchildren Austen, Gaven, and Tristen Hill, Cole Grubiak, and Sydney Hunter, and great-great-grandchildren Micky, AJ, and Lincoln Hill. A brother and sister Peter O'Brien and Rose Marie Beers also survive.
Teresa's husband John J. Decker II and her siblings Clarence, Thomas, and Catherine O'Brien predeceased her.
