Joseph T. "Terry" Ackert, 59 of Grassy Ridge Road, died unexpectedly Wednesday March 20, 2013 at home. Born in Kingston on May 15, 1953, he is the son of Anna (Prendergast) Ackert of Hurley and the late Gilbert Ackert.

A self employed auto parts dealer, Terry loved Jeeps and Volkswagens and animals, enjoyed long long rides as well as nature and cooking. He had a great sense of humor and really enjoyed a good practical joke. His hobby was remote controlled airplanes. He enjoyed music, especially jazz and was a fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants and boxing. He was a writer, executive producer, director and actor. He wrote and starred in his own movie "The Cursed Meteor".

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his lifelong companion of over thirty years, Jill Dunham of Olivebridge; his sister, Carol Ann Ackert of Hurley; brother, Richard W. Ackert and his wife Jan of Kingston; nieces and nephews, Kristie Ann Juhl, Erin Lynn Nagy, Lauren Ackert, Matthew Harrington, Courtney Harrington, Brianna Dunham and John Dunham, Jr.; uncle, Robert Ackert and his wife Ginny. He is lovingly remembered by Jill's mother, Juanita Cinclini, Jill's sister, Jolie Dunham and brothers Michael Dunham and John Dunham and his wife Dorothy. Cousins also survive.

His brother, Bruce G. Ackert died previously.

Cremation to take place at Wiltwyck Crematory.

Inurnment at Fairview Cemetery, Stone Ridge.
