Theodore J. "Ted" Humphrey, Sr., 81, of Ulster Park died Saturday December 30, 2023 at HealthAlliance Hospital:Mary's Avenue Campus in Kingston. Born June 2, 1942 in Kingston, he is the son of the late Norwood Humphrey and Florence (Mack) Humphrey.
Ted worked for Kosco Oil for forty six years from 1965 until 2001. A few months after his retirement, he worked part time at NAPA Auto Supplies in Kingston. He was an avid bowler for forty five years in the men's league. He also bowled for many years in the Father & Son league with his son Teddy, he shot a 300 on March 27, 1982. He loved teaching his grandchildren to bowl, fish, and attending their events. He loved and adored his three grandsons. Ted was a former member of the Port Ewen Fire Department and he attended the New Life Assembly of God Church in Saugerties.
Survivors include his brother Francis Humphrey and his wife Linda of Hurley, sister Victoria Leitstein of California, stepdaughters Georgette Jocelyn Olson and her husband Chad, Tammy Clayton and her husband Marty, grandchildren Zachary O'Connell (Dalton Lafferty), Sean and Dameon Jocelyn. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Fredericka Humphrey, his son Theodore "Teddy" Humphrey, Jr., his daughter Brenda O'Connell and son in law Paul O'Connell, and siblings Frank, Norwood "Pete", Jr., Henry, Harold, William, John and Ada Mae Humphrey, Christine "Chrissy" Schrader, Marion Glass, Dorothy Bartroff, Charlotte Rowles, Josephine Menendez.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of contributions to the Port Ewen Fire Dept. PO Box 832 (161 Broadway) Port Ewen, NY 12466.
