Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 PM.
A Nightingale Prayer Service will be held at 5:30 PM.
A funeral procession will form Friday 10 AM at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM at St. Joseph's Church.
Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
Therese Miles Donnelly, 95, passed away May 15, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She is the daughter of the late Nelson and Marguerite (Schatzel) Miles and the step-daughter of Melvina McGowan Miles.
She grew up in Kingston, graduated from Kingston High School and Our Lady of Victory School of Nursing.
She is survived by five children: Frank (Michelle) Nerone of Lockport, NY; Mary Ann Kelly of Kingston, NY; Kathleen A Donnelly, SU of Rhinebeck, NY, James (Heidi) Donnelly of Stanfordville, NY and Nancy (Thomas) Swart of Saugerties, NY. A stepsister: Mary Ann McGowan McDermott of Kingston also survives.
Therese was a loving grandmother to Michael & James Nerone; Jenn Kelly Zell & Alissa Kelly; Benjamin, Gabriel, and Zachary Swart; Niall Johnson and Bridget Donnelly, cousin and God mother to Mary Lou Jones She also was very special to Ryan Knowlton and to several great grandchildren. Luke, Seth and Naomi Nerone, Gavin and Griffen Nerone and Grace and Grady Zell.
She is predeceased by her husbands: Frank Nerone (1960) and Richard M. Donnelly (1982). She is also predeceased by several stepsisters: Margaret Walker, Angela Doyle and Edwina Meier
Therese Donnelly worked in many nursing settings over her long career in nursing including Memorial Sloane Kettering in NYC; Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX; Benedictine Hospital in Kingston; Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck NY; and the Ulster County Infirmary – "Once a nurse; always a nurse!"
After retiring from nursing, she volunteered in the Foster Grandparent Program at Meagher School working with first graders. In her retirement she volunteered as an ombudsman in our community nursing homes always advocating for her beloved elder community. She delighted in sharing her musical talents in playing piano in a duo setting of Therese and Karen playing music for the residents at numerous elder nursing facilities throughout the Hudson Valley. She loved sharing her joy for music
Therese will be remembered for her positive nature, joy for the simple pleasures in life and incredible generosity and love in anchoring her family in difficult times. She enjoyed her many friends at The Birches at Chambers and their game nights. She was cared for by several health aides from the A&T Agency for Senior care – especially Ione Paul and Diana Gromoll. The family wises to thank the staff at Golden Hill (A3) and Hudson Valley Hospice for the gentle care they provided in her last few months.
