Friends are invited to visit at the funeral home on Friday August 21 from 5pm to 7pm. 

A procession will form at the funeral home on Saturday August 22 at 10am. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11am at St. Joseph's Church. Burial will follow at Wiltwyck Rural Cemetery.

Veronica Simmons, 82, of Vero Beach, FL passed away unexpectedly on August 1, 2026. Born July 7, 1944 in Chester, N.Y. Veronica is preceded in death by her parents John and Mary (Titus) and brother John Novak.

Veronica drove a school bus for Arthur F. Mulligan Inc. for over 25 years before going to work for the city of Kingston.

She was known for her unwavering devotion to her family. Her children were the most important aspect in her life and she worked hard to provide a loving and supportive home. Veronica was known as Grammie to her grandchildren. She spent much time with them and was so proud of what the three of them have accomplished. She also enjoyed reading and going on cruises with good friends in her retirement years.

Veronica is survived by her husband of 66 years James Simmons, her children Jeffrey Simmons and his wife Cheril of Accord, NY and Kim Petro and her husband Thomas of Kingston, NY, her grandchildren Trevor Simmons of Brunswick, ME, Samantha Schulte and her husband Hans of Stamford, CT, Matthew Petro and his wife Alexis, and her great-grandchildren Madison Petro and Jackson Petro of Port Ewen, NY. She is also survived by her cousins, nieces, nephews, and best friend Nancy Ahrens.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to her neighbors Nancy and Barbie for all of the support and assistance they gave her and her husband during her recent illness and unexpected passing.
