Vincent W. VanBramer, 87, of Kingston died Wednesday March 1, 2023 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. Born August 10, 1935 in Kingston, he is the son of the late Vincent and Terese (Wood) VanBramer.

Vince graduated from Kingston High School in 1952. He later enlisted in the United States Army. During his service, he was stationed in Germany where he worked in finance.

Upon completion of his military service, Vince enrolled at SUNY New Paltz where he received a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 1962. That same year, he was hired by Kingston Consolidated School District where he embarked upon a teaching career spanning more than 36 years. He was a gifted educator and touched many students' lives.

Vince was active in the community, demonstrating his commitment through volunteering and service. He was one of the original board members of Ulster Performing Arts Center. He had been an active member of Kingston Kiwanis Club, serving as President in 2002. Vince also was a board member of Friends of Historic Kingston and Kingston Senior Residence.

Vince was passionate about travel and shared that passion with his wife Sharon. Among their favorite destinations together were Bermuda and Ireland. In his earlier years, Vince was an avid athlete, particularly excelling in basketball. He remained active throughout his life. Vince immensely enjoyed socializing, sports, reading, trivia, puzzles, and a good cigar. In the last year of his life, he found great joy and comfort in spending time with his baby grandson, John Vincent.

Surviving is his wife of forty-four years, Sharon (Flynn) VanBramer of Kingston; his daughter Kathryn Gionta and her husband Paul of Cortlandt Manor; his stepson Robert G. Henry and his wife Colleen of Kalispell, Montana; grandchildren John Vincent Gionta and Kristin, Andrew, Aidan, Owen, and Carter Henry; great-grandchild Walker Henry. Two sisters, Justine Gittings of Freemont, California and Joyce Henz and her husband Keith of Surprise, Arizona and a sister-in-law, Patricia Flynn of Malta, New York also survive along with several nieces and nephews and cherished friends.
