Vivian Marie Longto

As per last request, there will be no services. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Joe.

Vivian Marie Longto , 98, crossed into heaven on August 3rd, 2024.

Born in Kingston, NY on November 12,1925, she was the daughter of Minnie Odell/Denis/VanEtten and Robert Bailey Denis. Her widowed father died when she was very young. She became the daughter of Earl Van Etten after her mother remarried.

She Married the love of her life, Joseph Longto, in September of 1945. They shared a wonderful life together until Joe died in 1989. Viv never remarried.

Vivian was employed by the Kingston City School District as a food service expert for 61 years!!! She retired in 2011 at the age of 85!!

Her love of music and ability to play numerous instruments kept her busy entertaining people most of her life. She was a member of the Bergvagabunden Schuhplatters, where she played accordion and was still a member of the Mannerchor and Damenchor of Kingston at the time of her crossing.

She had an adventurous soul and got to travel much of the world. She especially enjoyed her many trips to Germany and England and loved the friends she made abroad.

Vivian is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Joe, her brothers: Robert Denis, Don Van Etten, and Ralph Van Etten.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many cherished friends.
