Wayne J. Corkery, 75,
of West Hurley passed away on Tuesday May 28, 2024, at HealthAlliance Hospital: Mary's Avenue Campus in Kingston. He was born November 25, 1948, in Kingston, a son of the late Joseph and Eleanor (Dunbar) Corkery.
Wayne served our country in the United States Army during Vietnam in the 4th Cavalry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He sustained wounds during combat and was awarded the Purple Heart, amongst other decorations and commendations. Returning home from Vietnam, Wayne worked at Rotron Industries, and then worked for the New York State Department of Corrections at Greenhaven for thirty-two years. He has held the positions of Town of Hurley Constable as well as Peace Officer, and was a fan of the Buffalo Bills and the New York Yankees.
Surviving is his stepson Keith Landerway and his partner Suzanne Madison of Hurley, step grandchildren Nicole Landerway and her husband Chuck, Amanda Landerway, and Dayne Landerway, brother Terry Corkery, and sister Barbara Bonestell, sister-in-law Linda Budny, and dear friends Cindy and John Hoffmann. Many nieces and nephews also survive, including Kasey Briggs and Kelly Bruce.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Margaret "Peggy" Corkery and his sister Carol Klitzner.
