William Andrew Dodd

Visitation will be held on Saturday December 28th from 12-2 pm at Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home in Kingston with a service at 2 pm and interment to follow at Montrepose Cemetery.

William Andrew Dodd (72) of Ulster Park passed away peacefully at home on December 17, 2024.  He was born on October 9, 1952 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Philip and Margaret (Philson) Dodd.

Bill said goodbye to his high school sweetheart and wife of 40 years, Patricia, in January 2016.  He is survived by his son, Ryan and wife Nikki, his daughter, Meghan and husband Matt, older brother Steve and wife Connie, and younger sister Janet and husband Frank.

Bill and Pat made their life in Ulster Park.  They bought a house they loved in 1975, built a home and remained there their entire lives.  Bill's passion was music and he would pick up his guitar and start playing and singing every chance he got.  Over the years, Bill played in many bands including with Ryan and his friends who affectionately referred to him as Pops.

Bill began his career as a mechanic before joining the US Postal Service where he worked for many years, eventually rising to the role of Postmaster in Rifton.  He was a valued member of that close-knit community until he retired in 2017.

Bill was also a lifelong dog lover and in retirement he rescued CJ, his beloved Saint Bernard followed by Bailey, his most recent canine companion.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Ulster County SPCA in his memory.
